January WIP

Hi everyone,

I can not believe that it is February already. Where did January go? I have to admit, I did not
get as much accomplished as I would of liked.
Nonetheless, I thought I would share what I was working on,this month,

2015 crochet mood blanket
This is my crochet mood blanket, I have been pretty well behaved with keeping my colours up to date. I must admit, I still need to work on today's.

A yeti beanie
This is what I am clacking away with, on my 4mm knitting needles. It is a beanie for a yeti! I love yetis, I can not decide whether I prefer Bigfoot or the abominable snowman. They are so cute, I love them both.
The story behind this project, is it was my office Secret Santa present for last year. I received Fuzzy Mitten's Yeti and Sasquatch knitting pattern, some merino yarn and the 4mm knitting needles. I am keen to have another yeti to my yeti collection and maybe a Sasquatch soon.

And.... Last but not least, my Big Bang theory inspired afghan. I am feeling a little demotivated with this project, I am not loving the colour scheme at the moment. Pastel colours over the past couple of months have really been inspiring, I am finding the bright colours too jarring, I am hoping it will come together once I have the black boarder. It is a blanket to snuggle under on the lounge, So if I used pastel colours, I thought it would get stained easier, with Mr.I and Mr.H (also known as my little shadow) sitting on it.

Well I might get started on today's mood blanket square.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.
XOXO

Crocus flowers

Hi,

Anyone who knows me, is aware that I love plants, flowers and gardens. My Crocus are currently flowering, they looked so pretty, I had to get some pictures to share.

I just love the mixture of the yellow and white, they just look so happy.

I hope you have a lovely day.

Big Bang Theory crochet blanket (A.K.A Amy Farrah Fowler's blanket)

I am not sure if you are, but I am a large fan of the Big Bang theory. I also love a lot of their decor, in particular Amy's crochet granny square blanket that sits on her lounge.

I have a 2 seater lounge, that I believe one would look perfect on! My lounge is a bit old as it was purchased when we first moved into this house, it was purchased from a second hand store, so it could definitely do with a bit of a revamp! (I also may or may not have a slight granny square obsession.)

I have been Googling and watching the episodes where the blanket is shown, quite a few times. I can really seem to be able to see a consistent pattern for the colour placement, it seems to be more eclectic, with blocks of pattern. I was going to keep mine a little bit more random, so it is more of a Big Bang theory "inspired" blanket.

I included this image for reference and also because Sheldon looks so toasty wrapped up in it.

I have chosen to use the Stylecraft DK again, as it is cheapish and has a large colour range. I also do not have a yarn stash that I can bust, yet...

I have ordered my colours, so I just need to await for them to arrive. I have put together a colour collage below.

I can not wait to complete it and share the results!

A slight scare

Yesterday was quite a horrible day.

I woke up and got ready for work, like I normally do. Hunter normally sleeps in, until I have my cup of tea. I was sitting down with my cup of tea, when he entered the lounge room, he was dragging his hind legs behind him.

At first I thought he was faking, as he fake limps sometimes when we are going to work, but we generally grab his dentastick or his ball and he runs as per normal.
He tried yesterday, but could not. He could still wag his tail, but not use his legs.

I called the after hour vet, who said I had to wait for my normal vet to open, as it is not late enough, It was an anxious 4 hour wait, I was worried the wait could of caused permanent damage, he just lied with his head in my lap for those four hours.

Hunter's head in my lap

When we got to the vet, she prescribed him some anti inflamatories and painkillers, as he was displaying soreness in his hips, we have to monitor him for hip displasia, but overall he should be ok just may require some surgery down the track.

I am so relieved that it was nothing major, as I love him too much!

Crochet mood blanket challenge 2015

I recently learnt how to crochet using Youtube tutorials, after seeing all these amazing mood blankets everywhere. I am a little bit late to the party, as the challenge was issued for 2014 by  Mummy_Stacey.

I have ordered my wool and I am just waiting for it to arrive. I have sorted out what moods to do, this was the hardest part, I believe.

These are my moods and corresponding moods.

My boarder colour.

I have ordered colours in the Stylecraft Special DK range, I have read alot of people use it and like it. So fingers crossed it is as good as everyone says it is. I had a few issues trying to locate yarn, as I went to Spotlight and Lincraft and found that they did not have a very large colour range in the same brands/weights. So I had to look online,

I ended up ordering with Love Knitting, I was surprised at how easy their website was to use, compared to some Australian sites I visited and they had such a large range of yarns as well.

I hope all goes well and it arrives on time. I can not wait to start on my mood blanket!

New year, New goals

At the end of last year, I sat down and started writing a list of things I wished I achieved last year, but didn't. I look back to the beginning of last year, I had no clear goals or achievements that I had aimed for. I was in quite a dark place, due to a car accident I was in, in later 2013.
I have decided that I do not want to reflect back on this year and feel the same disappointment.

I sat down and wrote up some New Year resolutions goals. I prefer the term goal, as resolutions are always so short lived. I thought I would share my list here and it may inspire a few people to work on their goals for 2015.

What I want to achieve in 2015

  • Spend more time with family
  • Be healthier
  • Be more organised
  • Spend more time on craft
  • Blog regularly
  • Invest and save more money
  • Complete a crochet mood blanket
  • More volunteer work
  • More photography
  • Travel more
  • Buy my new house!!
  • Stress less
My list looks pretty big and scary, but I have broken my goals into sub goals and have written out how to achieve them. This year should be a success with the proper planning.

I would love to hear if you have any resolutions or goals for 2015.

New year New blog

Welcome to Stitch-a-llama and 2015!

I have no idea if anyone will read this, but here is goes..

I thought I would start this off with a quick introduction, I am Ann, I will be the main writer and contributor of Stitch-a-llama. I thought I should also introduce Hunter, he is my shadow, so you may see him occasionally in my pictures or hear me mention him.

Hunter and I
I currently have a day job, bogging is a hobby that I am planning to start and stick to in 2015. The reason why I wish to create my own blog, is to showcase my creations and so I can look back in the future and see how I have improved and added to my current craftiness.

I am hoping this blog will not be just another craft blog (there is nothing wrong with craft blogs, I really enjoy reading them.) I am aiming for it to be more of a craft and lifestyle blog, as sometimes, I do get to busy to craft and would love to share some of my fun experiences and I will hopefully inspire everyone who reads it.

I would love to see some comments, so please feel free to leave some. They can even just be to say hi.

Have a lovely day and I will be talking to you later!
